A popular TikTok creator, Ishaq Abubakar Major, has been arrested by the Nigerian police following a viral video in which he accused Senator Shehu Buba, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, of having ties with bandits.
According to reports by Sahara Reporters, Major was picked up by operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) at the Maraba-Nyanya junction in Abuja. He is currently being detained at the FCID headquarters.
The arrest comes after a series of TikTok videos where Major alleged that Senator Buba was compromised and unfit for public office due to alleged links with armed criminal groups.
In one of the viral clips, the TikToker claimed:
“This newspaper (Sahara Reporters) described Senator Buba as a senator that has a relationship with bandits. No newspaper would publish such allegations if they were false, because he has the money to take them to court. But since he knows the claims are true, he has remained silent to protect his governorship ambition.”
As of the time of this report, the Nigerian Police Force has not released any official statement regarding Major’s arrest.
