Renowned Nigerian gospel singer and songwriter, Sola Allyson, has once again addressed critics who question her close friendship with Nollywood actor, Lateef Adedimeji, making it clear that religion can never come between them.
The singer, who recently celebrated her birthday with a grand thanksgiving music concert in Lagos, thrilled fans with soul-lifting performances. In a viral video from the event, the audience erupted in excitement as she warmly invited Lateef on stage, sparking renewed conversations online.
This isn’t the first time Sola has faced backlash over her public connection with the talented actor. Back in 2022, their joint stage performance stirred heated debates. But the gospel star has remained unbothered, insisting that creativity and genuine bonds go beyond religious differences.
Speaking boldly at the concert, she said:
“Lateef is a creative, I am a creative. Religion cannot separate us. Lateef is a child of God, I am a child of God. We may see our Father differently, but he is my brother. People can say whatever they like, but here today, Lateef will sing, and if I know the song, I’ll sing along with him. And the song will bless lives.”
Lateef, while addressing the cheering crowd, also shared his perspective. He noted that listening to Sola’s music doesn’t diminish his faith as a Muslim.
“Listening to BBO and Aunty Sola’s songs doesn’t make me less of a Muslim. Your songs touch me the same way Islamic songs do. At the end of the day, God is beyond form,” he said.
