President Bola Tinubu on Friday departed Abuja for Ibadan, Oyo State, to attend the historic coronation of Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The President’s aircraft took off from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, at about 12:45 p.m.
In Ibadan, Tinubu will join top dignitaries at Mapo Hall, where the former Oyo State governor will be formally installed as Olubadan, succeeding Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7, 2025.
The coronation has attracted a high-profile guest list, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, former governors, serving lawmakers, traditional rulers, and prominent personalities from across Nigeria.
Among the notable figures present are former Ogun State governors Otunba Gbenga Daniel and Ibikunle Amosun, former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and several federal legislators.
The event also drew respected Yoruba monarchs such as the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade; the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi; the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Afolabi Olaoye; and the Timi of Ede, Oba Munirudeen Lawal.
Representing Oyo State government were Deputy Governor Barrister Adebayo Lawal, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (Oyo South), Senator Yunus Akintunde (Oyo Central), and members of the House of Representatives, including Akin Alabi and Olamiju Alao-Akala.
