“Sidelining Me Will Bury PDP” – Wike Warns Party Governors-OXYGIST

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that excluding him from key decisions could spell doom for the party.

Speaking during his monthly media parley, Wike expressed deep frustration over what he described as deliberate efforts by some PDP governors to sideline him, despite his long-standing influence and contributions to the party’s growth.

According to him, the party risks collapse if it continues to ignore voices like his.

“Have I not said it before now that the booby trap you’re setting will consume you? The way these present governors are going, they will bury this party,” Wike warned.

The former Rivers State governor questioned why his position as FCT Minister should exclude him from PDP stakeholder meetings, noting that his commitment to the party remains unwavering.

“I’m the FCT Minister. Are you saying because I’m not a governor, I shouldn’t be part of PDP meetings? And you still expect the party to survive?” he asked.

Wike also dismissed claims that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) was responsible for the PDP’s internal crisis, insisting that the opposition’s problems were self-inflicted.

“All this talk about APC is rubbish. Is it APC that makes you take wrong decisions? Just because two or three people are governors with large allocations, they think they can decide for everyone?” he added.

Speaking on the upcoming PDP National Convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Wike accused the party’s leadership of failing to complete necessary groundwork, including state congresses and internal restructuring.

“If they do the right thing, will anyone stall the convention? They haven’t even done the congresses that should come first,” he stated.

Wike’s remarks have once again stirred debate about the future of the PDP as internal tensions continue to threaten the unity of the opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.
